4 Ideas for an Enchanted Forest Wedding at Mill Pond Estate

Towering trees dripping with moss. Soft sunlight dappling guests below. A quiet countryside beyond. These are the details that brides dream of when they imagine an enchanted forest wedding venue. And we can’t blame them, as we surround ourselves with the beauty of Mill Pond Estate every day. If there are three words that perfectly describe our event space, they’re sweet, simple, and organic—ideal for a romantic celebration that will stand the test of time. Keep reading for ideas on hosting an intimate woodland wedding in Florida.

Ethereal Bridal Style

Organic details and a subtle smattering of metallics are staples for a woodsy fairy-tale wedding look! While the setting for an enchanted forest wedding should be lush and minimal, the same doesn’t apply to the bride. You want to stand out, yet still complement the space. Wow your guests with a modern gown, featuring a subtle hue of pink and blue and soft tulle layers. Organic lace is another gorgeous choice—check out a floral or leafy pattern. We recommend keeping jewelry minimal, with delicate branch-like shapes. The bridal bouquet should be soft but whimsical, so you could rock a small or oversized arrangement. Pack it with greenery and delicate blooms, perhaps of roses, delphinium, or ranunculus in subtle hues.

An Organic Luxe Ceremony

What makes for a forest wedding venue in Florida? For us, it’s the trees! Palms are easily the most recognized foliage in our home state. But towering oaks dripping with Spanish moss set the scene at Mill Pond Estate. After all, you can’t have a forest wedding without a forest. Our ceremony site, the Broken Oak, is a gorgeous backdrop for your vow exchange. Decorate it to your liking with billowing drapery and blooms—the wood stage will keep you front and center. Or, set up a standalone arch covered in lush greenery on the forest floor. With soft light filtering through the branches overhead, this space oozes romance!

Whimsical Portraits

Mill Pond Estate is a photographer’s paradise. There is no shortage of stunning photo backdrops to capture whimsical portraits of the newlyweds. One popular space for an enchanted forest wedding is the Lily Pond, featuring a beautiful wood dock. Couples are welcome to go for a quick ride to the center of the pond and recreate the rowboat scene from The Little Mermaid. (If you aren’t a fan of water, you can snag an equally beautiful shot from the shore.) The pond looks lovely at sunset!

Or, if you like, you are also welcome to work with one of our beautiful horses, housed on-site. They make for the loveliest photo prop, especially with a bride dressed in a billowing wedding dress. Try these shots in the Grand Meadow, another wonderful photo location within the venue.

Intimate Outdoor Reception Design

An enchanted forest wedding reception should be cozy and intimate, with a hint of magic in the air. For an on-theme event, consider hosting dinner beneath our towering oaks and the sparkle of bistro lights. These cast a warm glow at nightfall that is oh-so-romantic! You can up the intimacy of the event by featuring wood banquet tables, set up side-by-side. This will allow guests to converse with ease.

For decor, keep it simple. Line the center of the table with runners that flow off the table and onto the ground, topped with garlands of greenery dotted with flowers. Candles, in candelabras or glassware, are a nice touch. To maintain a style that is chic and modern, keep serving ware sleek and subtle, with only a smattering of metallics. Should you desire more texture, you can’t go wrong with rattan or wicker—a beautiful way to tie in the surrounding woods!
