Destination Wedding Trends for 2023

Destination weddings have always been popular - they’re exciting, fun, intimate, and a way to explore a new place while saying, “I do.”! But, it can be difficult to figure out the logistics - what traditional wedding aspects to keep and which ones to leave behind. Here are some destination wedding trends that are popular for 2023 and beyond!

Going Green

Sustainability has (thankfully) become a bigger factory in the wedding industry over the past few years - and it’s here to stay. Wedding vendors are offering eco-conscious options in terms of venues, decor, and food. Couples are also opting for re-used or recycled decor or even renting their wedding dresses and suits.

Bold Florals

No matter where your destination wedding is, you’ll have lots of natural beauty to draw from - and this year, couples are opting for statement florals in unique, bold colors. This year, couples are using florals to reflect their personalities and complement their slice of paradise!

Speaking of bold, 2023 is seeing a trend of blending metallics and copper tones with neutral shades for wedding decor and attire. The contrast of materials and tones with natural greenery or dark colors make for a unique and striking aesthetic.

Curated Cocktail Hours

While cocktail hours are a standard for most weddings, this year, couples are looking to put a unique spin on the conventional cocktail hours; such as opting for signature cocktails designed by them that show off their personality. And since it’s a destination wedding, why not utilize local services such as mixologists or even baristas to make special drinks for guests!

Reception Changes

Outfit changes post-”I do” are nothing new, but rather than changing into something equally formal, brides are choosing more fun and flirty dresses for the reception. Not only is it a way to incorporate your personal style into your wedding, it makes dancing more bearable and brings an element of surprise to your wedding!

Elopements

Once associated with celebrities, elopements are becoming increasingly popular today - especially as it relates to destination weddings. Whether you choose to elope at the beach or on a lush estate, elopements offer an intimate ceremony with just one or two guests. Plus, some wedding venues even offer elopement packages!
