Your Guide to Creating a Wedding Vision Board
You just got engaged and now it’s time for the exciting - yet daunting - task of planning your wedding! But before you begin the planning process, you’ll need to create a blueprint that includes what your wedding will look like! And here is where a wedding vision board comes in!
Generally speaking, a wedding vision board is a visual representation of what you want your wedding to look like. While it may seem like just a fun pastime during your wedding planning process, it’s just as important as establishing your wedding budget!
What’s A Wedding Vision Board?
Like any other vision board, a wedding vision board allows you to put all your ideas in one place. Specifically, it should include colors, images, textures, and decor for you (and your wedding planner) to use as inspiration for your wedding. Without one, you can feel overwhelmed and stressed about everything feeling cohesive.
Creating a Wedding Vision Board
When you think “vision board” you probably think of Pinterest! Pinterest - as well as other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok - is a great place to start a wedding vision board. Start by taking screenshots or saving posts of anything that inspires you - like colors, floral arrangements, decor, venues, food, and more - then upload them to Pinterest or Canva to put everything together.
Pro tip: Using Canva to put together a collage-type image is a great way to ensure you don’t have duplicate images as well as make sure everything looks cohesive.
What Should You Include in Your Wedding Vision Board
As you can imagine, it’s easy to get carried away with creating a vision board! To start, include anything and everything you like or could imagine seeing at your own wedding. Add as many images or videos of fashion, drinks, food, decor, venues, etc. as you’d like until you feel like you can create a “final” wedding vision board.
Next, narrow those images and videos down until things start to look cohesive and there aren’t any duplicate pieces (i.e. five images of the same floral arrangement). Once you feel as though your wedding vision represents what you want your wedding to look like, it’s time to share it with your wedding planner! That way, they can start to suggest venues and vendors that fit your style.
And of course, nothing is set in stone! Although your wedding vision board is an extension of your style and aesthetic, it’s important to keep updating your vision board throughout the planning process. Sometimes we think something will fit perfectly but then find something even better along the way!
The main thing throughout this process is to stay true to yourself and your authentic style. Your wedding is an extension of you and your partner and it should feel that way!
